“We were really pleased when Radio 2 got in touch to engage with us about access to the #R2InThePark Festival coming to Preston and I have to say I think they did a great job, we know not everyone will be happy but there was just over 70’000 visitors over the 3 days of which 20% will have been disabled people – and the access team were amazing, so helpful and accommodating, they just wanted everyone to enjoy the festival.” DENW CEO Mel Close shares.
The event was across 3 days in September at Moor Park in Preston and Sunday was definitely more challenging with the awful weather conditions and so muddy underfoot – but the team tried their best to help everyone.
We appreciated their support and that they prioitised the accessibility of their local music fans of Lancashire and beyond by asking DPO (Disabled Persons Organisations) like DENW for input into how to make the event as accessible as possible.
It was fabulous to support them to create their accessibility pack which you can take a look at here – https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/access
Check out Travis in this short clip of a pan of the crowd to get a flavour for the event and size from @Closie01…
