Following a recent query from a personal assistant employer around insurance, it has come to light that any DP employers that require hoisting will need to purchase the Health Policy rather than the standard DP ELI policy.
Mark Bates have advised that employees who are undertaking this task will not be covered under standard ELI policies.
Employers need to evidence that any staff who are hoisting and using related equipment have been adequately trained.
Any LILS clients who are employing or go on to employ staff to undertake this task and will need to build the cost into their weekly direct payment. There is a standard cost for the health policy, but it depends upon the number of staff that they are employing, in short there is an additional premium for each additional PA they employ.
