April’s Monthly Monday Wellbeing Walk with DENW and Foxton
Monday 14th April 2025 2:00pm-4:00pm (approximately)
Meeting at the Pavillion Café, Avenham Park, Preston
Our Monthly Monday Wellbeing Walk will take place at 2:00PM on Avenham Park on Monday 14th April 2025. This walk will feature a seasonal guided tour of the parks (Avenham & Miller) by Alan Rampling from the Friends of Avenham and Miller Parks, along with links being made to Springtime and upcoming Easter Events in Preston and the North West. No pre-registration necessary, and this walk is suitable for all levels of mobility.
Easter Celebration with Disability Equality (NW)
Thursday 17th April 2025 1-3pm
Venue: Olive Grove Café, Central Methodist Church, Lune Street, Preston, PR1 2NL
Feel free to join us for a peer support session celebrating Easter, Maundy Thursday, the arrival of Springtime, and other Seasonal Festivities, with members of Disability Equality NW in-attendance hosting the session.
Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there! Wellbeing Walk & Let’s Grow Preston Visit
Ashton Park, meeting @ the Park’s Car Park, Point of Interest 13 on the Park’s Map.
Feel free to join us for an accessible walk around Ashton Park, including the option to visit Let’s Grow Preston’s facilities, the Ashton Park Walled Garden and see local activities taking place throughout the year on the park.

Spring-Themed Peer Support Session with Disability Equality Community Hub Team
Meet the Community Hub Team @ Disability Equality North West, find out about plans for future workshops, activities, and meet other local individuals for an afternoon of group-led peer support. If you arrive early, there is a café in the Community Centre, which opens from 10:00AM – 2:00PM, and, a weekly Thursday Tai chi class from 1:00PM – 2:00PM in Plungington Community Centre.

Venue: Central Methodist Church, Preston PR1 2NL
Hosted by NW Genomics Medicine Alliance, with DENW Staff in-attendance.
Focus Group on Genomic Medicines and health inequalities
This will be a small focus group to identify where underrepresented communities
may face barriers and health inequalities around genetic and medicines.
They are especially keen to hear from the homeless and transient communities to identify where health inequalities can be reduced.

Springtime Peer Support Session @ Plungington Community Centre
Come along for a brew and hot food (provided), meet local individuals with lived experience of disability,
engage in 1-to-1 / group discussions with other attendees, our current on-placement UCLan Medical Students,
and any advisors / guest speakers on-the-day.

11am, Preston Town Hall, Lancaster Road, Preston, PR1 2RL
Meeting in the Town Hall Foyer, this will be an accessible tour of the Parlour, council chambers, a unique insight into the history of the role, and a chance to meet Preston’s current Mayor, Councillor Phil Crowe.

Cooking Group workshop with Chef Alina, Disability Equality NW, and Foxton
1:00pm – 4:00pm
Grimshaw Community Centre, Grimshaw Street, Preston, PR1 3DD
Join us for a cookery workshop where all ingredients are provided, where all in attendance will learn to how to make healthy budget meals for one, using vegetables / vegetarian recipes. Food can be taken home from this cooking group session.
